Amazing Grace

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 A worship leader by the name of Correy Voss wrote a song entitled Nothing But The Blood. The lyrics are rich and make a clear proclamation of the atoning work of the cross.

There is nothing strong enough to stand, Against what love has done with outstretched hands, For now salvation flows for every man, Oh Hallelujah.. And whosoever calls upon His name, Will find their guilt and burden rolled away, They’ll rise up to their feet forever changed, Singing Hallelujah!

There is not a single sinner that God does not want to save.  Romans 10:13 “Everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” It is this depth of grace that grants rich kindness and tolerance in spite of our obstinance towards His call to repent.

Do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you toward repentance? Because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgment will be revealed. Romans 2:4,5

Family Bible Notes Commentary:  Or despisest thou; they who take occasion from God’s long-suffering to go boldly on in sin, throw contempt upon his goodness. Not knowing; it is a willful and guilty ignorance, for it has its ground in forgetfulness of God. When the goodness, patience, and long-suffering of God encourage men in sin instead of leading them to forsake it, it is fearful evidence that they are ripening for ruin.

“There is none righteous. No not one.” We all have been given a ‘divine imperative’. We must be saved! Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” Pastor Billy Graham stated this: “The cross is offensive because it confronts people; even so it’s a confrontation that all of us must face.”

Our prayer is that you will not resist the kindness of God that leads to repentance. Our prayer is that you will come to Him with a broken and contrite heart, receiving the free gift of salvation purchased with the shed blood of Jesus and then make Him your Lord as He calls you deeper in faith.
